This 1975 Bricklin SV-1 was purchased by the current owner’s husband in 1999 and it underwent a complete frame-up restoration beginning in 2008 that consisted of replacing the bodywork and painting it Safety Red, rebuilding the 351ci Windsor V8, installing a rebuilt AOD four-speed automatic transmission, refreshing the interior in tan upholstery, and converting the gullwing doors and pop-up headlights to pneumatic actuation. Additional equipment includes power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 15″ Turbo Mag aluminum wheels, bucket seats, a MOMO steering wheel, a Sony CD stereo, and air conditioning. This SV-1 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with manufacturer’s literature, restoration documentation, spare and removed parts, an illuminated Bricklin sign, and a clean Tennessee title in the owner’s name. The SV-1 features acrylic resin body panels bonded to a fiberglass substrate, which are mounted on a steel frame with an integrated rollover structure. Approximately 1,200 examples were produced for the 1975 model year, and this one underwent restoration in 2008 that involved replacing the body panels and painting them in Safety Red as well as converting the hydraulically lifting gullwing doors and pop-up headlights to pneumatic actuation. Design cues include impact bumpers, black-finished lower bodywork, and dual exhaust outlets. Machine-finished 15″ Turbo Mag aluminum wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Power steering was equipped as standard along with power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The MOMO Race steering wheel frames replacement VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are located in the center stack. An air pressure gauge has been mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles since rebuild, and true mileage is unknown. The fuel-level gauge does not work. The Ford-supplied 351ci Windsor V8 was rebuilt in 2010 and features a Barry Grant four-barrel carburetor, ported heads, stainless-steel valves, and forged pistons. The wiring harness was replaced during the restoration, and the seller notes the expansion tank hose is cracked and leaking. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Ford AOD four-speed automatic transmission that was sourced from a 1987 Mercury Cougar and was rebuilt in 2008. The differential has a leak.
